Hailing from a little town in Belgium, ESSENCE is a band to keep an eye on in the near future. The band consists of members aged between 18 and 21 years old and this fivesome sure knows how to entertain their audience with their memorable live show. Every single member giving his all on stage during their set and enjoying their time on every show is what this band stands for.
ESSENCE, who initially formed in the summer of 2005, first raged under the name ESSENCE OF LIFE.
With their former singer Frederic and their old guitarist Mauro they played shows the first year of their existence as a band. Mauro decided to leave the band after a year of playing shows and Maarten came in to play. With a new member, ESSENCE OF LIFE decided to start all over again and renamed the bandname to ESSENCE. After recording their MCD they all had mixed feelings on their singer Frederic and ESSENCE unfortunately decided to part ways with him. A few days later ESSENCE already found a new singer in their good friend Michiel.
After these line up changes, the five of them are sure they have a decent and solid line up for the future, in fact, they all have the feeling that its just getting started.
On their MCD, Now Shatter These Fragments, ESSENCE brings you almost 20 minutes of raging metalcore. Heavy parts, fast parts, slow parts, mosh and sing-alongs, Now Shatter These Fragments has it all. But none of these songs really show what ESSENCE is up to these days. After having all their musical tastes enlarged, ESSENCE now writes their songs with a certain complexity. The new songs are heaps heavier, faster and catchier than the old ones.
With this package under their belt ESSENCE is appreciated in the new hardcore and metal scene. Their new material brings out the mosh in the hardcore fans but they also know how to get the metalfans headbanging on their fast, raging metal riffs.
With these youngsters writing their first full length as we speak, the hardcore and metal scene better keeps an eye on them.
