note: currently seeking new guitar player
Esme Montgomery grew up in NYC, followed her former rhythm section, members of The Insidious
Rays, to the Lehigh Valley, and formed a four piece indie-rock/ melodic-post-metal-hardrock/ new-wave-90s
sounding band with locals
peter quinter,
anthony perrett
and brown nick
The band performed as ESME, playing Esme's original music, in PA, NJ and NYC. Notably at NYC's Knitting Factory,
South Paw and Northsix, and at Bethlehem's original music hub, The Funhouse.
Prior to that Esme fronted the band Dark Sweet Cherries in NYC, played lead guitar for Indie Rock band Loving The
Allien (also in NYC), performed solo sets on acoustic guitar around NYC (notably Sidewalk Cafe, home of NYC's Anti-folk
scene, Arlene Grocery, Mercury Lounge and The Living Room), and fronted Chicago prog-rock band Melted Velvet.
Classically trained as a pianist from age 10, Esme attended LaGuardia H.S. in NYC, where she studied French Horn, and trained
in vocal technique with acclaimed NYC vocal coach Cari Cole. She is also college educated with a degree from the University of
Chicago.
Esme Montgomery's writing has been noticed by successful industry professionals including Howard Bloom (Publicist
Joan Jett, Run DMC, Billy Idol, Prince etc) Cari Cole (grammy nominated Vocal Coach), attorney George Stein
(manager Jeff Buckley), and Justin Goldberg (indie 911). In 2003 she was one of the first artists signed with INFIDEL
Records, owned by Water Music Recording Studios in Hoboken NJ (Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back
Sunday, Ween, Dave Matthews Band, Antigone Rising). She has shared the stage with great
musicians including guitarist Robbie "Seahag" Mangano ( The Sound of Urchin, Project/Object), bassist Danton
Boller (Jazz Mandolin Project) bassist Dave Dreiwitz (Ween) and worked with bass player/producers Carl Restivo
(Satellite Party, Wycleff Jean) and Andrew Weiss (Rollins Band, WEEN).
