Biography of Eric SmaxHouse Music was born.

and Eric did not sleep when in 1988 house music conquered the dancefloorand the

foundation of one of the most important and carismatic form of electronic music

was laid. In the early 90s, being a Chicago House-Junky and rising pioneer DJ

(in this area), Eric was musically influenced by labels such as Strictly Rhythm,

Relief Records, Twisted and Henry Street Music.Forming part of Germany's

electronic music scene Eric's passion soon became a business reality: Eric was

responsible for the background music during the WEA/Warner Germany gold single

and album (award) celebration for Madonna's Single/Album

Frozen/Ray of light as well as for the DJ Set at the subsequent party at the

famous MALKASTEN Düsseldorf. Due to this performance he became

resident at this club. Two more resident engagments followed at

Mk2 and La Rocca, also in

Düsseldorf.Like in the past Eric continues to extremely enjoy

experimenting with sound. "You need to have the instincts of a streetsoccer

player. Creative thinking, open to new ideas and sometimes base decisions on a

gut level rather than on a mind level. "That is the reason why known DJs like

DJ Delicious, Aaron Smith or Soul

Seekerz refine their tracks with remixes by Eric Smax. For Eric this is

an honor and a confirmation of his talent.Eric loves to browse through

his music archives to come up with new ideas. No wonder he has his studio inside

his home/house. "I need to realise my ideas directly into arrangements and not

having to first get in the car and drive for an hour before I can do

so."2006 was a very successful year for Eric and he now looks to the UK

to continue his success story over there. Together with Thomas

Gold or Claude Monette he produced

S_Punk and Maybe your heart. Both hitting the

Dance Charts and DJ Playlist on a top level. In 10/2006 "The

feeling/Crucified" was released. A charm giving a different view on

something familiar.Furthermore Eric is in to cover art, i.e. he invests

a lot of time and creativity in the design of his singles covers. "I also like

to have my music visually interpreted."



Eric Smax Biographie

House-Music was born. und Eric war dabei, als 1988 die erste Welle

losgetreten und die Basis für den wohl dicksten Strang der elektronischen Musik

gelegt wurde. Als Chicago House-Junky und kommender DJ der ersten Stunde erhielt

Eric dann Anfang der 90er seine musikalische Prägung von Labels wie Strictly

Rhythem, Relief Records, Twisted und Henry Street Music.Immer nah an der

Szene wurde aus Erics Leidenschaft aber plötzlich ernst: Bei der Goldverleihung

der Firma WEA/Warner Deutschland für MADONNA'S Single/Album

Frozen/Ray of light wurde die musikalische Untermalung im kleinen Kreis sowie

das anschließende DJ Set im legendären MALKASTEN Düsseldorf von

Eric gestaltet. Das Ergebnis war eine Verpflichtung als Resident. Schlag auf

Schlag folgten mit dem Mk2 und La Rocca

zusätzliche Resident Posten in der Landeshauptstadt.Damals so wie heute,

experimentiert Eric für sein Leben gerne. "Als DJ und Produzent musst du den

Instinct eines Straßenfußballers haben. Kreativ, experimentierfreudig, nicht so

verkopft, sondern eher aus dem Bauch heraus." Das ist auch der Grund, warum

heute Größen wie DJ Delicious, Aaron Smith

oder Soul Seekerz ihre Tracks mit Remixen von Eric Smax

veredeln lassen. Für Eric eine Ehre und Bestätigung seiner Arbeit.Eric

liebt es stundenlang in seinem Musikarchiv zu stöbern und Ideen zu produzieren.

So verwundert es auch nicht, dass er sein Studio direkt im Haus hat. "Ideen

müssen einfach sofort raus. Ich kann mich nicht erst ins Auto setzen und ne

Stunde bis zum Studio fahren."2006 ist ein Jahr mit riesigem Output und

Blick nach UK. Gemeinsam mit Thomas Gold produzierte Eric die

S_Punk/Our roots. Hohe Dance Charts Platzierungen und DJ

Playlists sind das Ergebnis, sowie Lizensierungen ins Ausland (Vendetta Spanien

& Insinct Rec UK) In 10/2006 geht die The feeling/Crusified

als Solo Single an den Start und ein neues Houseprojekt wurde für England

produziert: HOUZECRUSHERS. Der Charm: Ein ungewöhnlicher

Blickwinkel auf Bekanntes.Zudem ist Eric noch ein Cover-Junky. Gemeinsam

mit seinem Designer investiert er viel Zeit und Kreativität in den visuellen

Auftritt. "Ich möchte meine Musik auch visuell interpretiert wissen."
