Ephesus have been a band since 2002 but with various member changes, they were first formed by John (singer, guitar) and Alona (drums) when beginning with only some shoe boxes to hit and an old Spanish guitar to twang. Thankfully things have changed in the last five years.



Ephesus were a three piece band for three years and played many gigs and festivals all over the country, they were getting played on local radio and had a reasonable following in the north west before Dean (guitar) joined. Due to the band being young and finances getting hard they had no place to practice, which is when Dean who they’d know for about three weeks at the time said they could use his basement. He only lived down the road and therefore they all became friends quite quickly. Dean who then became Deano joined and with the progression in Johns songs and the maturity of the music becoming ever so clear, the sound changed dramatically.

The extra guitar added more depths and layers to the already warm sound of Ephesus. The new progression in sound, musicality and intricacy struck a chord with curious listeners looking for something new and refreshing. They then toured the country with a final gig headlining Satan’s Hollow at the In The City festival.



The final line up of the band only emerged in the summer of 2006 when x bass player Ste decided to leave. Chris, the current bassist who was already a friend of John, Alona and Dean would always come to the gigs and was into the music so it just seemed right to get him in the band. After that everything just seemed to fit into place, song after song would come, they began gigging again and have never been happier.

They are now due to go into the studio in autumn after a series of gigs to record they’re debut EP which they will be releasing there debut single off.
