The main work of that year was the release of Sandra's last album of entirely new material, prophetically

entitled "Fading Shades" ( Virgin CD724384058623. ) The release of the

single "Nights on White Satin" ( Virgin CD 7243 892899 2 3 ) - a cover of

"Nights in White Satin" by the UK super group

The Moody Blues - preceded the

release of the album. The single contained 5 tracks and, for the first time in

Sandra's career, a number of mixes were

issued to appeal to the diverse current dance-music types: "Club Mix",

"Techno Mix", "Jungle Mix", and a "Dub Version".

The main feature of that album that set it apart from all other

Sandra albums was the heavy involvement

of Jens Gad, not only in the production but also in

the song-writing. Klaus Hirschburger of

HUBERT KaH

continued to write lyrics. The fans did not welcome that involvement

as indicated the poor sales.

In fact, the album was a flop. Based on internet web-sites and

postings, interest in Sandra

never waned, even if it is not as universal as it once was, one could say that she had maintained a

loyal fan-base that continued to enjoy and admire her presence in

Enigmaas well as her earlier works.

Nevertheless, the album failed and the reason could be that it simply did not sound like a

Sandra album. Whether the dance-tracks

were flat, or the ballads were lukewarm, or both or neither, the album failed to raise the

interest typical of a Sandra release.

Some individual songs stood out as sincere and catchy such as "First Lullaby"

and "Will you Whisper", however they did save the release from sinking.

The first of the two was written with Sandra's

twin babies in mind, as she was still pregnant with Nikita and

Sebastian. It appeared two years later in

1997 as an instrumental on

Trance Atlantic Air Waves

album "Energy of Sound" by the title "L-42" (lullaby

for two.)

The second single release from the album was "Won't Run Away" (Virgin CD

724389303827.) It also contained several mixes albeit not specifically named to match

current in dance music: "The Sunshine Mix", "Happy Dance Mix", and

"Extended Guitar Mix". A Dutch one-track promo of the single has also been

spotted ( Virgin CD VGP 000041.)
