Endemy
Formed in August 2004, Endemy is a heavy metal four-piece hailing from Hawthorne, Los Angeles, CA. Born from the embers of several "South Bay" bands, the current line-up, consisting of Edwin Mercado (vocals) Emilio Alvarez (lead guitar) Joe-Z (bass) and Augie Nunez(drums), is rapidly becoming a musical force to be reckoned with, not only within the Sunshine State's borders, but also much further afield.
After some initial personnel changes in the band's early days, Endemy developed their sound, passion and creative zeal through performance. They made their live debut in LA's Whiskey A-Go-Go, and went on to play sold-out shows alongside such outfits as: All Shall Perish, Devildriver, God Forbid and Death By Stereo.
Taking their influence from the likes of Chimaira, Soilwork, In Flames, Mastodon and Deftones, Endemy's sound can best be described as a unique fusion of thrash and death metal, with meticulous attention paid to incorporating more melodic, almost catchy elements into their songwriting. Endemy succeed where many others have failed, by their ability to bridge the gap between pop sensibilities and raw, brute-force metal…not unlike many of the bands they namecheck and whose music they respect and admire so much.
In 2008, Endemy completed two 4 song demos with Jeff Hannan, from Mid-City Studios, Mike Sarkisyan, and Tommy Decker of the (Grammy nominated) band Spineshank. Two tracks from these sessions; "Dream Curse" and "Abstract Ending" were exclusively featured on the Downtown Metal Compilations Volumes 1&2, and in 2011, the band returned to Mid-City to record their latest EP "Anchors".
Endemy is currently (and as always) writing, playing shows and looking forward to their next visit to the studio in the Fall, where they are due to start work on their debut album. Having recently signed with Des Moines artist management company - The Inner Light Agency, it's more than fair to say that this band's story is really only just beginning.
