Weasel Walter Trio "Song 4" - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 20, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
"Song Four," by the Weasel Walter Trio with Weasel Walter (percussion), Mary Halvorson (guitar), Peter Evans (trumpet), recorded live on September 20, 2008 at The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy, NY.

Weasel Walter is a drummer who straddles the many lines between punk, free jazz, no wave, improv, black/death/speed metal, and much more. The Weasel Walter Trio features three of the most iconoclastic, distinctive young improvisers on the contemporary U.S. scene. The modus operandi of the trio is pure free improvisation performed with lightning reflexes and a blisteringly articulate combination of speed, structure and sensitivity. From a whisper to a roar, the unexpected is always expected when these three perform. With wicked solos and lots of sweat, the intersection of these three great talents surely describes a new unexplored point in the universe!

This production is part of "Free Jazz at the Sanctuary," a 13-part series of jazz performance videos featuring some of the world's most talented improvisers performing a wide spectrum of music in the genre broadly known as free jazz.

The complete series consists of performances by:
