"ELECTRORASH.COM" JANUARY 2008

Stephen J Mitchell aka Emergency! Emergency! has run into a bit of trouble. The Sydney-based one-man electronic firecracker has recently lost all of his music-related data to an inconvenient computer crash (when are they ever convenient…?) and no, he didn’t back up his files. So don’t ask. Anyway, whether or not God/The Fates hate Emergency! Emergency!, I don’t, and neither should any of you. So in order to ensure that a valued member of the Australian electronic music community doesn’t, you know, DIE, help him raise the money for a data-recovery service by picking up a copy of his 100% independent and DIY EP, appropriately named E!E!E!P!. It’s raw, glitchy mania at its very best. Message him on his Myspace page, or if you happen to be Myspace illiterate, shoot him an email to emergencyemergencymusic@hotmail.com to order one. It’s only $10 people!

"DRINKS + SMOKES" NOVEMBER 2007

"Babes dig Emergency Emergency… at least they did at their E!E!E!P! launch. The former duo come solo project (of Stephen J Mitchell) make music. Music that comes out of guitars… and synths… and gameboys.

A liquored up electro shambles on stage Stephen J screamed, perspired and swung from the ceiling before a sea of cute girls and digital SLRs. Don’t get me wrong, there were doods there, I think. Technical issues and wardrobe malfunctions (pants hanging dangerously low only to be rescued by a front row ladeh friend) only endeared him further to his obvious fans… proving EE are fucking great live. Oh and on record. Go buy their EP – it’s crazy good."

"THE BRAG" INDIE ALBUM OF THE WEEK (EEEP!)

'Having seen [Emergency! Emergency!] perform in many a dingy bat cave, my expectations were high for the long anticipated release of their first EP. Celebrated in the underbelly of Sydney's underground scene for their energetically involving performances, Emergency! Emergency! slap faces and dirty pants with their ear shattering brand of new rave/indie electro.

Teaming up with local new wave talent NEONHEARTZ, Emergency! Emergency! produced the EP out of their own pockets. Cutting edge in every sense of the word, Emergency! Emergency! swallow all thats 'so in right now' and spit out a darkly danceable anti mainstream sound. Driving, grinding beats of set by glitch Gameboy sounds (they literally used a Gameboy) create a slightly confusing sound thats wrong but oh so right. The frenzied panic of Emergency! Emergency! all centers on the desperate screams of Stephen J Mitchell and . Somewhere under all those sounds a touch of New Order can be heard, a sleep deprived, electro-clash, too much ecstacy New Order. Having seen mobs of indie/electro-clash kids psych dancing like mad, Mitchell screaming at them and everyone screaming for more after the set Emergency! Emergency! are sure to secure their place in an indie/electro scene, one that spawned the likes of The Presets and Midnight Juggernauts.

A smashing, grinding, snort it up your nose evolution of electro-clash. Dark and trashy, Emergency! Emergency! make Gameboys bas ass "

"RAVE MAG" OCTOBER 2007

'.Bringing us to Sydney’s Emergency! Emergency!, who provide in spades the aspects that Twist Oliver Twist fall short in. A mixture of ‘80s driven new-wave and pop, hip hop, post-punk and glitchy noise, the duo translated their music into a very entertaining and anti-mainstream live show, where it could have just come off as a DJ set. The desperate male screams being offset by female sass and proclamations; each song has a beat just as phat as the next, yet they maintained originality and energy within and between songs. The best part is they exhibit none of the alienating pretentiousness that often comes with the territory of these kind of bands, and held a sincere enjoyment of what they were doing which is infectious to those watching."
