As beautiful to the eye as she is to the ear, Norwegian singer/songwriter Elvira Nikolaisen is a thoughtful vocalist with a bent toward melodic, adult-alternative rock. Born in Moi, Norway in 1980, Elvira grew up in a family of seven children. Nurtured on music from an early age, the Nikolaisen dynasty includes Emil and Hilma of Serena Maneesh, and Ivar (Blanco) from the rock-band Silver.
Her debut album Quiet Exit was released on Sony BMG (Columbia) in 2006 and spent more than 20 weeks at top 10 (peaking at no. 2), making it the most successful Norwegian album of the year. Produced by Knut Schreiner (Turbonegro and Euroboys) Quiet Exit included no less than 3 major hit singles, all of whom got heavy rotation on national and local radio. Through 2006 and spring 2007, Elvira toured the country extensively, and by mid 2007 she is considered one of Norway's biggest female stars.
Elvira released Indian Summer in April 2008, again with critical and radio-success. She built a small studio in her basement, and started working on the third album, a process that took over 2 years, but lead to her collaboration with her brother Emil, who produced her latest album Lighthouse.
Lighthouse was released on the 11th of March 2011 by Sony Music. Elvira has pushed her musical-limits, and it's apparent that she has been on a good place during the writing process. Lighthouse has become an album which explores the highest high, and the lowest low, a soulful pop record full of ambition and passion. She is again touring and already started working on her new album, investigating new collaborators and songwriters, moving on from her trilogy and into new fields of making music.
