Flamenco and rock have been fused beforeBut Leicester's El Mahico venture into entirely new territory, adding hip-hop and political punch and the musical mix works surprisingly well. Birmingham Sunday Mercury Review Oct '08

All Quarters is pure fusion music in that it shows a band firmly refusing to be restricted by boundaries’ and it’s all the better for it. El Mahico are the kind of band that sunny Sunday afternoon festival slots were invented for. Burton Mail Review Oct '08

If you're looking for something a bit out of the ordinary that will bring some Latin light to your dark winter evenings then El Mahico could be just the listen. Great Yarmouth Mercury Review Oct '08

Such an infectious sound.you can't help being stirred by this bold music.if you have any sort of bent towards the Latino/Cuban genre, this is an absolute must to add to your collection. Selby Times Review Oct '08

Their eponymous anthem sets the tone and after that it’s politico-goodtimes with enough stuff to let your hair down and doff your sombrero to. Blackpool Evening Gazette Dec ‘09

Formed in 2002, this Leicester band take their inspiration from Latin and Cuban music and throw in hearty helpings of soul and hip-hop. Now a six-piece they serve up an enjoyable and eclectic dish where Spanish guitars can be found nestling alongside some DJ scratching. Peterborough Evening Telegraph Nov ‘08

El Mahico take the listener on a journey of World Music. No band I know of takes influences from more styles and the band unleash them all on All Quarters. Their own style is an amalgamation of Hip-Hop, Reggae and Latin beats blended to form a carnival of sound like nothing you've ever heard. Off Beat Magazine Aug/Sept 2008

‘El Mahico… a much needed diversion from the norm, as the band delivered an impressive set of pulsating Latin rhythms, urgent bongos and resilient female vocals. Well worth the effort.' Atomicduster.com

‘Heavy label attention to the band is unsurprising as their mix of latino guitar riffs, samba rhythms fused with hip-hop beats from the bass, and decks is fresh and invigorating. Leicester has never felt so much like Rio!' Clickmusic.com

Over the last few years the band have been working hard in order to build a strong fan base in their hometown of Leicester and have received high acclaim for their energetic live performances.

Among their successes have been performing to a capacity crowd on the main stage at De Montfort hall’s Summer Sundae Festival in August 2006 alongside artists including Gomez, Coldcut, DJ Format, Foreign Beggars, Jose Gonzalez, and Jamie T. Other performances include supporting MOBO award winner Sway, and supporting the Levellers at Stamford Riverside Festival. In December 2007 the band won the Project Talent UK People’s Choice award after performing at the Indigo O2 arena. The band returned to the Summer Sundae Festival in August 2008 by headlining the Musician Stage, again to a capacity crowd, in support of the forthcoming debut album, 'All Quarters.'

During 2008 the band have been busy writing and recording 'All Quarters' which is now available to buy. Download by following the iTunes, Napster, HMV Digital, Oxfam Music, MTV Digital & E Music links opposite. All Quarters is also available to purchase on CD through www.amazon.co.uk
