You'd think that with a name like Ella it would all just come naturally. Well, this Ella has worked admirably hard towards making the name famous all over again. At just 24, she won sponsorship for a UK tour as one of the youngest vocalists that Jazz Services had ever taken on board, to a reception of rave reviews.

Ella has been deeply affected by music right from the start and fell in love with the American Songbook at an early age. Born into a creative family in Northern England she grew up in the small village of Greenfield. Surrounded by beautiful countryside Ella spent half of her childhood beside a tape player listening to stuff, whilst the other half was spent writing melodies and walking up the same old hills. At the tender age of 8 she was fortunate to be taught by the great Jazz pianist Nikki Iles, who encouraged her to always think with her ears first. Inspired by Nikki's approach to Jazz this led to her enrolling at Leeds College of Music on the Jazz degree programme. She began the course as an instrumentalist, but within the first few weeks discovered her real love for singing. She switched to first study voice and from then on was under the natural guidance of the fine vocalist Tina May. Unfortunately in 1998 Ella fell ill and could no longer continue with her studies at Leeds. However In 2001 she was back singing and began gigging on the northern Jazz scene. She went onto record a couple of albums and learnt more about life.
A couple years later Ella moved to London to continue her studies at Trinity College Of Music. With determined enthusiasm she developed her vocal style with the likes of Anita Wardell, Norma Winstone and Trudy Kerr and did 2nd study Jazz Piano with Andrea VicariAswell as being taught by Dave Cliff, Simon Purcell and Nick Weldon.
During this time Ella produced her most recent album "When You Love Someone" featuring the likes of Tom Farmer (Empirical) and Rob Barron. The CD has received wide interest from several international record lables.

Ella has performed at various venues including Ronnie Scotts, 606 Club, Vortex, Pizza On The Park, Olivers, Spice Of Life, Cafe De Paris, Jazz In The Round, The Wardrobe and Hi-Fi Club (Leeds), Theatre By The Lake (Keswick), Hull, Scarbrough and the North Wales Jazz Clubs and The National Beauty Awards 2008.
She also holds regular residences at Pizza Express, Harvey Nichols restaurant, Loch Fyne and Cafe Rouge restaurants across the country. Festival appearances include Cheltenham, Riverfront Jazz Festival, Isle Of White, Marlbrough, Southport and Beverley.
