Elite Studios Recording Studio

I'm Lee Hoffman (DJ 4.0). I am an Engineer, Producer, and Owner of Elite Studios based in Port Huron, MI. The songs on my page are samples of what your tracks will sound like when you leave the studio. They do not have special mixes on them and are unmastered. I wanted to give a realistic demonstration of the product you will be recieving at the end of your session. Bands who would like to work out project based prices, contact me for information. My number is 810.650.2518. I have several clients I work with already, so to book some time please CALL AHEAD!

Things you should know before recording with me:

-I use Cubase 5, Not Pro Tools. (Pro Tools limits my hardware choices and limits my tracks to 48. Cubase is much more flexible with unlimited tracks, Universal hardware choices and unlimited inputs.)

-I have 16 channels of simultaneous inputs.

-Bands, pick the songs out before coming to the studio to avoid time wasted arguing over which songs to record. Select several at a time to record to save time and money. Drums take awhile to set up and record so its always a cost effective idea to have the drummers lay several tracks at a time. Drums record first to a click track with a scratch guitar. Time spent in pre-production is also a good idea to decide on arrangements and so that every member of the band knows their part. It is usually a good idea to set a meeting place before coming to the studio that that all members arrive on time and do not interrupt nor hold the session up.

-Drummers, practice with a metronome so that your timing is tight when it's time to record. Make sure your drums are tuned and the heads new. Bring extra in case one should break.

-Guitarists/Bassists, make sure your guitars/bass guitars have new strings. Check for intonation problems and have them fixed by a professional before recording. Bring extra strings and picks.

-Vocalists, make sure you do not drink anything cold before coming to record, it tightens up the vocal cords. Bring tea and honey if needed. Know the lyrics and arrangements ahead of time.

-Keyboardists (instrumental producers as well), bring your keyboard in with the names of the instrumentals before hand. I will show you how to transfer the instrumentals so that it is tracked out instead of just two tracking it.

-Rappers/Producers, do not expect miracles if your instrumental is two tracked (CD form). I have had countless amounts of instrumentals come in that are distorted or mixed terrible. I can not fix poor mixes or distortion. If I tell you the instrumental has issues, please trust my judgment.

-Be on time. Even if you are not on time, you will still be charged for the amount of time you scheduled.
