From emceeing to b-boying and coordinating youth workshops to community organizing, El Guanaco (or El-G), has been contributing to the growth of Hip Hop for a decade. El Guanaco's musical style is a combination of his Salvadorian roots, Hip Hop lyricism with a touch of conciousness mixed with some b-boy flavor.
Representing the Universal Zulu Nation and Seattle's own MAD Krew, El Guanaco's mission to preserve and elevate Hip Hop as an uplifting culture is conveyed when mentoring kids and organizing workshops. He has been involved with many projects, forums, events while working within several community centers, high schools and community colleges. El G hosts regular break battles and events such as the Cypha, Freefall, and Fat Laces with Shorline Rec and other centers.
In 2003, his debut album with group Cyphalliance entitled 'Industreets' was released, shortly after performing and sharing stages with artists like Aztlan Underground, Ab Rude, Aceyalone, Emanon, Orko, Mr Brady, TC Izlam, OneBeLo, Naughty By Nature, La Paz, Duex Process, Poor Righteous Teachers, 2Mex, Silent Lambs Project, Blue Scholars, Abyssinian Creole, and others.
El Guanaco continues to mentor young people, facilitates workshops, while recording music and working full-time. El G's music can be heard on various mix-tapes and compilations around the Northwest and online, until the next release- the long awaited Cyphalliance, 'It Starts With One' full-length album.
