Aelfric Michael Avery is from BC Canada. He started music at age 7 and began composing original music at age 10. By age 13 he had composed and recorded hundreds of songs and was regarded as a prodigy. His first two techno albums were released on Ingefex Productions in 1994.
In 2005 Aelfric began releasing and performing electronic music under the names Electrokinesia and Acid Elf. He DJed regularly with the renowned Stereoshift crew (DJ Briden and DJ Heidrogen) and was regarded as a pioneer of alternative electronic dance music in British Columbia. He released music on several labels in 2006-2007 such as Audio Aubergine, and was noted for his remixes of Paul Blackford’s music.
In 2007 Aelfric founded Napalm Enema Records, which was an instant underground hit. Napalm Enema was noted by DJ Magazine as “wonderfully named.” Aelfric discovered and signed Jodey Kendrick, who went on to be an important part of Aphex Twin’s Rephlex Records, as well as Drew Lustman and Hannah Davidson, who went on to Mike Paradinas’s Planet Mu Records. Aelfric released the first 12” vinyl records for each of these artists. Jodey Kendrick’s first record was the “Bruv’s Acid” split EP with Aelfric under the name Acid Elf. Drew and Hannah’s first 12” was the “FaltyDL’s Asparagus Harvesters” EP, featuring a remix from Aelfric under the name Electrokinesia.
The NER crew consists of many other notable artists such as Paul Blackford (Militant Science, Bass Gun, Breakin, WeMe), Aliensextoy (Micron Audio Detroit, Militant Science), Jeremiah Shaw (Metroplex, Underground Resistance), and Shugsy. NER music is released on vinyl, CD, and is available in all good online music stores. Since its beginning in 2007, NER has become one of the most renowned and well respected Techno and Electro record labels. Trax Magazine in France likened NER to Underground Resistance, Rephlex, Clone, and the musical quality of Drexciya (Nov 2009): "Napalm Enema Records.is an important structure in contemporary Electro in the same Underground vein as Underground Resistance and Drexciya, and it is good to hear music like that in '09."
In early 2009, Aelfric began releasing Electro under the name Zen Robots and Crown Jewel. These two projects were born out of a collaboration with Jodey Kendrick called “The Quadrants.” The Zen Robots became a regular part of Paul Blackford’s Militant Science Records and are also a part of Aliensextoy’s AntiZer0. Most of the Zen Robots music is made by Aelfric alone. However, in 2010, Chromia, who has also released on MSR and NER, joined the Zen Robots. Several Zen Robots works are collaborations between Aelfric and Chromia.
