Egconfused (ee-jee-khun-fyoozed) originated in mid 2003 as Egyptc (ee-jipt-see) as an alias for the emcee, Jonathan Ortiz. He commenced as any ordinary emcee and created songs alongside with peers. The initial recordings were rough, improvised lyrics and beats produced with a rhythm synthesizer and tape deck. Later, Jonathan and chum, Jonathan Melendez (Jmelen), formed a rap group called, Anomalous Children, composing their ideal of underground hip hop. Soon after, Jonathan Ortiz recorded his own music, but grew jaded of the boom bap hip hop genre he was falling into. With strong influences from indie rock and mentor, Nick Serrano, he is now recording more live instruments and acoustic sounds. His music is becoming something along the lines of indie rap, and he is performing solo as Jonathan Tramp, and with Sal Luna and friends as Egconfused.



Egyptc is currently recording an ep titled, Dirty diapers (Summer 2009). The album reflects the primary year of his fatherhood, relationships, and potent dread of growing old. Featuring artist such as; Nick Serrano, Bizzart, and Ded Merchant. Consisting of more vibrant lyrics and acoustic sounds than his previous album, Elementary (Spring 2008), Dirty diapers is clearly a step towards maturing and new perspective.
