K-Rahn

In the mind of many hip hop fans, the idea of positive rap is synonymous with preachy lyrics and boring beats. Such is not the case with K-Rahn, a lyrically driven west coast rap artist who is very passionate about making music that uplifts the urban community. On his soon to be released album, The Sphinx Album, one can hear the rare blend of socially and spiritually conscious themes with the hard hitting sound of the streets.
Since a child music has been a major part of K-Rahn's life. Ice Cube and NWA had a tremendous impact on his love for hip hop, but it was 2Pac who most influenced K-Rahn artistically. Drawn to the 3-dimensional personality of 2Pac's songs, K-Rahn states "Unlike no other, 'Pac was able to show the conflicts that exist in all of us."
Having experience working with Los Angeles' detained youth, K-Rahn sends messages alternative to current trends. Through this passion, he has risen as the voice of the CORNERBACK MOVEMENT, a collective of artists, fans, and concerned citizens pushing for higher thinking and social responsibility.
While his Emancipation Mixtape is filled with blatant social commentary, he says The Sphinx Album is more of a fun, confessional project that shows K-Rahn's diversity and complexity. "This album is about the battle within. Our strengths and weaknesses, our integrity and hypocrisies. It is album of self examination." Tracks like Why, which has a smooth, feel-good vibe, deal with the ideas of self hatred, while tracks such as California and Must Be Love are fun, club driven West Coast anthems.
K-Rahn is leading the way in helping return variety of thought to the commercial rap music industry. Music business consultant Wendy Day, one instrumental in the development of several well known rap stars and labels, including Cash Money Records and Eminem, states "[K-Rahn's] music is very good. I was very impressed! It was produced well, and the songs well constructed…I feel it's a top notch project worth of taking to market."
