What is a band? A band is a vehicle that is commonly and mostly used to transport songs, ideas, and people of course. Oftentimes, it is like a container truck, hard to maneouver, thirsty for fuel, ploughing down those who get in the way! However a band’s size can be much smaller, but still serve the same function as the usual bands.
One of the groups that fall into this category is econoline. This small but sturdy band has been built to haul and tow just about everything and anything, it’s seated four, five, two, one and now three people. Econoline has certainly earned a good reputation as a band, since the year 2000, and is still counting, it’s been drawing comparisons with sebadoh, the cure, dinosaur jr, Seam, and the wedding present, The entire line up is composed of Ian Scanlon, Piers Chandler and Steve Ansell (also of blood red shoes/ projections). Upon its first public appearance, it was introduced with different versions which included the cargo version, the passenger version, and the pickup truck version. We’ll let you decide which of these was which, all versions have recorded and released material one way or another, and toured the UK and bits of Europe in a good show of roadworthiness.
Econoline has been a favorite for many people who choose bands which could transport and carry groups of people to the place where indie rock lives, with live shows that mean something to people, as well as holding the capacity for towing and hauling the tunes and melodies that those people need. Through the years, this band has undergone various changes and redesigns to give it a more sophisticated and comfortable appeal inside and out. Aside from that, econoline also received commendations and awards like a 2002 session from John Peel, and sharing bills with all manner of other truckers on music’s wide roads; Max Tundra, Pram, Wolf colonel, OUTHUD, cat on form, the Oedipus, hirameka hi fi, themselves, les savy fav, karate, mates of state, Jeffrey and Jack Lewis, the lapse, wolves!
