At age seven, Connor started knocking out Elvis-style songs on a plastic Dukes of Hazard guitar. Age twelve: Connor's parents bought him a Tascam Porta One 4-track and a Peavey Bandit 75 solid-state amp with which Connor produced a catalogue of (self-proclaimed) Kiss rip-off tracks. When he came upon fifteen, Connor’s band won the high school Battle of The Bands by playing all Spinal Tap songs and one original.

Fast forward>>> In 2004 Connor famed producer Bryce Goggin (Spacehog, Pavement, Nada Surf, Lemonheads, Phish, Apples In Stereo, too many to name…), invited Connor to Trout Recording in Brooklyn after hearing some of his signature 4-track demos. Connor and Goggin emerged with the debut solo effort “Plug in.” The songs, naked except for splashes of Bryce’s keyboards, percussion, and effects, received an overwhelming response from the public at large. Connor supported “Plug In” by touring from the U.S. to the Middle East. He played dates with the likes of Mike Viola, Milton, Sam Bisbee, and Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. The song "Love's an Infection" was featured in the March/April issue of American Songwriter Magazine for its lyrical craftsmanship.

Connor continued to plant and grow roots in New York, eventually hooking up with his current band members Trevor Coen, Merritt Jacob and Joe Izzo. They further developed their distinct style on the Goggin-produced EP “Breakdowns and Hymns” (think Morrissey and Paul McCartney fronting Nada Surf). In 2008, Connor extended that EP into a full length record called "Breakaway Republic". The 2009 reviews of the LP speak for themselves:

"If you were to get Nada Surf, licked with some Ben Folds and covered in some of The Lemonheads special jelly and you were then going to put a blanket around them (just to soften them up a little).you would get Dylan Connor, the unsigned band from Connecticut. Dylan Connor has put together a winning formula.Sometimes wiping the floor with a post-punk super mop, other times treating us to a lovely folky charm-offensive." altsounds.com

"the perfect combination of story song and sugary pop.elements off skill, craft, and occasional brilliance" Stereosubversion.com

"a shiny little gem of an album. The songs are tight and well constructed. Connor's sense of melody is uncanny. The songs have a seemingly effortless catchiness to them." Snobsmusic.com
