Dwight & Nicole (Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson) are an American roots act heavily influenced by Otis Redding, Etta James, John Lee Hooker, Patsy Cline, The Rolling Stones, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, The Band, and The Staple Singers. They are based out of Boston/NYC, have been nominated for 4 Boston Music Awards and 3 Boston Phoenix awards and have been featured at the Tangelwood Jazz Festivial, Montreal Jazz Festival, Somerville Theatre in Boston and the Blue Note in NYC where they will be returning for the vinyl release of their debut album !Signs on Saturday, November 27th.
Dwight & Nicole have shared bills with Dr. John, Buddy Guy, Norah Jones, Maceo Parker, Dr. Maya Angelou, Carly Simon,The Funk Brothers, Joan Osbourne, Evan Dando, Juliana Hatfield, Natalie Cole, Winton Marsalis, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Buffet, John Hammond Jr, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis and Dave Brubeck.
The duo’s well received !Signs was recorded at Rear Window Studio in Brookline, MA and features a lineup of heavy hitters including Tony Mason on drums (Norah Jones, Joan Osbourne), Marty Ballou on bass (Martin Sexton, Jimmy Witherspoon), Milt Reder on guitar (Bo Didley), John Aruda on saxophone (Alice Cooper), Scott Aruda on trumpet (The Temptations), Eggui Castrillo on percussion (Allman Brothers, Arturo Sandoval), and Tom West on piano (Susan Tedeschi).
Their music has appeared on the following prime time television shows: “The Forgotten," on ABC; "Missing," on Lifetime; and "The Cleaner," on A&E.
