FUCK! yells Rodney and Vanzan agrees by sipping yet another Pilsner. It was December 2004 when both brothers decided to put an end to the german so-called-IndieRock and bring back good old rock and roll to germanys stages, after having trained liver and lungs in numerous Berlin-based bands before. Bass player Steven Stoned, an old buddy of Rodneys, is in it since day one and they started rehearsing in their new found bandhome, what used to be a shabby basement on the premises of the Berlin-Weddings meat and fruit market. After a short intermezzo with Butch, former drummer of Dissolation, Mr Baleone, manpowered and berserk, appears on the scene to complete the band.

In January 2005 they rented the legendary K4 Studio, where bands such as Beatsteaks, Seeed, Terrorgruppe and Peaches have worked before, and recorded their very first demo, that consists of 3 tunes. Ench Rooney, mystic founder of the Kreuzburg living community, invites the band to his realm and frontman Rodney soon becomes man in charge of the DUKESs and the Kreuzburgs business. Accompanied by their first live performances the Dukes spend the next months celebrating the flotation of the band in their new headquarters- the living room of the Burg. That very process also gave birth to the idea of shooting their first video right there.

Fuck You, the title of their video debut hit the spot like a grenade. It was downloaded from the bands new homepage over 150 times within the first week after the release and was being aired by local TV- an enormous success, given the fact that the band had played only two gigs at that point of time. In order to satisfy the growing community of Dukes supporters the bands homepage features a webcam, that provides live pictures from the Burgs living room, which has become the epicenter of all Duke activity.

What follows are many live shows: After supporting Hellraiser69 in Rostock they headlined the annual Berlin Rocktreff in a football arena. They played opener for Extrabreit and Gods of Blitz at the YAMAHA Festival, made it to the final at the Local Heroes band competition, played in the famous Markthalle in Hamburg and supported Hellfueled at the Berlin Knaack-Club, who had been awarded Album of the month by the RockHard magazine.



Chiefroadie Sonne also in charge of organizing the menacing bunch banned the first 12 months of this young Kreuzbergian band on videotape which led to the compilation of a disturbing dvd, delivering not only the Fuck You videoclip but also 2 complete live shows, interviews, insights into the bands rehearsals, a tourdiary and many more gimmicks. Soon this stunning dvd was out of stock, thanks to an amazing review on BandsInBerlin.com, so in November 2007 the band boarded the Sage Club Berlin to record their first DUKES Live EP. Recently the band played several successful gigs out of Berlin and did a two hour radio show on berlin's well known radio station "Radio Fritz" and Berlin Rock Station "Star FM", so be sure that DUKES, a band that started with an eruption will definitely tear down walls in 2009 and to all you Indiefuckers out there: Better watch your backs!
