THE DUKE OF UKE

THE BEGINNING.
One day, The Duke was strolling around playing with his Game Boy just as he passed a pawnshop. Some strange impulse made him wander in, and he caught sight of a ukulele hanging amongst the old swords and rusted tubas on the wall.
"Hey--how much do you buy these for?" he asked the shop owner, waving his Game Boy at him.
"Oooohhh.twenty bucks."
"And how much is that ukulele?"
"Twenty bucks."
What were the odds? Clearly the universe wanted The Duke to have that ukulele.
He made the exchange; the shopkeep took the electronic coma-inducer and returned with the ukulele in a small brown box like a little paper coffin.
We don't know how long the uke had hung in that shadowy shop, years perhaps, but as The Duke led it out into the sunshine, he tossed its coffin in the trash.
Then along came other merriment-seekers bearing tubas, drums, bass guitars, saxophones, and congas! They banded together into the mighty funk-pop force know today as The Duke of Uke and Novelty Orchestra.
