Duchy

Duchy was born and raised in Hampshire and is now settled in Brixton. Her musical influences are numerous and varied largely due to an exotic ethnic background comprising Jamaican, Cuban and Scottish.



Early exploration through her mother's record collection introduced Duchy to a world of sound peppered with the likes of Kate Bush, David Bowie, Patrice Rushan, Dionne Warwick, Dennis Brown Garnett Silk, Louisa Marks and groups from the energetic British music scene such as Soul 2 Soul, Loose Ends, Strangers & Depeche Mode. This inspiring vinyl & tape collection no doubt played a key role in Duchy's musical education, enhancing her flair as a versatile performer and song writer.



Duchy's own tastes further developed with the explosion of the British dance scene. Her early recording projects that took influence and inspired others within the drum and bass community included Reaction, J-Majik and The Underwolves At a young age Duchy would light up tracks with a fusion of energy and melody'



Current projects include working with numerous talented producers such as Phil Craig forthcoming album, Kay Suzuki EP 'MOVE ON' out on Round in Motion , Twin cites (Analog Jones, Guy Benton) single Raincloud/'Anticipation' out on Mukatsuku records, Ahmed Sirour forthcoming EP as well as recording bv's for exciting breakthrough bands artists such as United Vibrations Sun Ra EP out on 12 Tone, Bukky Leo's forthcoming album.



Duchy is also a DJ/promoter with the GOODNOYZ collective, putting on various nights around London & the UK.
