Byron Bay based collective DUBSHACK
formed in 2003, and have built a loyal global following from their positively charged live shows ,a hypnotic blend of Psychedelic Soul, Ska & Rootsy-Dub-Reggae with a unique Australian flavour.
Musically influenced by classic Jamaican Dub, & English Ska,
The DUBSHACK sound incorporates the use of an onstage audio engineer into the mix,
Psychedelic FX, delays, & echo drenched vocals, morphing with the pulsating energy of a full big band sound -guitars, drums,bass,melodica,keys & horns.
Their energetic live shows, percussive, heavy bass driven grooves & improvised dub soundscapes, that please the most hardcore of reggae and dub lovers.
In 2004 DUBSHACK released their self titled 4 track EP,
Their song "Lifesaver" was chosen for "Stop Wonderin Now",a 4ZZZ Fm Australian Ska & dub compilation. Song"Truth" was selected for movie soundtracks ,"As Is" & cult zombie surf flick "Bay Of the Dead"& song "Crazy World" received rotation on National radio broadcaster Triple Js "Home n Hosed" & "Roots n all" programmes. DUBSHACKS' music has been playlisted in Japan, Israel, USA, Brazil and Europe
In 2007 DUBSHACK, toured the Nth East of India headlining the massive annual
"Roots Festival" alongside fellow aussies Aurora Jane & Massive Change. Performing before estatic crowds in excess of 20,000 people& travelling into the remote areas of Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh. The band also conducted workshops on dub,reggae and music production
