Blazing out of the true north strong and free, Dreams of Treason is Calgary's answer to your hunger for good old fashioned rock 'n roll soul food. If you've had your fill of pre-teen pop divas, you've come to the right place! "Justin Bieber and Myley Cyrus are where it's at for the masses these days, but there's a pretty solid underground that craves the power and excitement of rock 'n roll," exclaims guitarist Alex Whitcombe. "We have more in common with bands like the Stone Temple Pilots and Led Zeppelin than we do with 30 Seconds to Mars, but that puts us in some pretty good company and I'm proud to say that our new album really showcases our best material to date".
Recorded in Los Angeles with production wizard Greg Hampton, the currently self-titled album is a departure from the band's previous work, blending modern hard rock elements with classic rock and world influences. "This is some solid work, I'm telling you" comments Hampton. "These boys really pulled it together and I think we were able to take them down sonic avenues that they hadn't really considered in the past. We're not reinventing the wheel here, but Dreams of Treason definitely has their own trip and they've managed to put a new spin on this brand of rock and roll".
The band has come a long way from their 2006 indie release, Slave's Desire. Produced by Larry Anschell (Nickelback, Pearl Jam), the 70's arena rock inspired album established Dreams of Treason as a mainstay on stages across western Canada but failed to capture the raw intensity of Dreams of Treason's live show.
Reflecting on their recent achievement frontman Chris Perkins muses: "The new album definitely conveys the sense of urgency we're known for live. Slave's got the band premium showcases at New Music West and a bunch of radio appearances, but this disc is going to bring the DOT experience into a whole new realm."
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Dreams of Treason were instrumental in creating the new Vancouver underground scene as founding members of the Vancouver Band Alliance and co-creators of A New Rock Reality – a reality TV show that chronicled the life and times of the Van-city rock scene. Always eager ambassadors, Dreams of Treason quickly befriended English radio personalities Moll the Bat and John Mono, resulting in features on Monochrome Museum and BBC Radio 1. "Representing Canadian indie rock in the UK was pretty cool without a doubt," states bassist Trevor Landmark with a grin. "Our little adventure is just beginning though, so here's hoping we can launch a full scale invasion the next time we're called into action!"
