"DPone" was born on October 31, 1981 in the San Gabriel Valley as the youngest son of a teenaged mother and alcoholic father living in a 2 bedroom duplex with little money to pay bills due to unfortunate circumstances within the household. By the age of 16, DPone's parents divorced and he was sent to live in the streets. "I know you'll be able to take care of yourself", his mother said, as he left a home that no longer existed.
Plagued with horrific life experiences living on the streets of Pasadena, California made him stronger and more determined to make his mark in this world. DPone, homeless and couch hopping until the age of 24, found honor and love in the hood. He began his rap career at the age of 18 and was a member of a rap duo with a childhood friend but the group broke up in late 2006. No real reason for the break-up except for the simple, "Just not on the same page", scenario. Still determined, DPone realized he can only achieve greatness by using his street knowledge as the foundation for his lyrical talent. No better way than to versify the life you've lived alone.
After many opportunities were slammed shut in his face due to a felony, DPone found solitude with his God and gained employment and an apartment of his own. This is where the seriousness of his craft entered into his rap career. Enabling him to purchase his own home studio to record the many songs he has today. A place where he can rest his head and work. A place where he can appreciate his music influences (Ice Cube, 2Pac, Scarface, Snoop Dogg, DJ Quik, Nas, and Wu Tang Clan) and add his talent to the list like a mad scientist in his lab.
In 2007, DPone held his first performance as a no name artist in a local pizza parlor with only 15 people attending in costume for a Halloween Bash. It was a hit, he performed as if he was serenading the tender ears of 80,000 fans, standing in the middle of the Rose Bowl. Hungry. Eager. Ready to spread his name and lyrics like an unexplained viral epidemic. No cure, just questions like, "Who IS this nigga?"
His first underground album "Who Am I?" contains the answers to everyone's questions. Who is DPone? A gangsta, hustla, B-dogged, hard-working, zealous man with major street credit. Patient and waiting for that one tiny moment to step both feet forward into a fanatical future leading millions of people into a new world of Gangsta Hip-Hop.
