Angela Davis a.k.a (D'Phuzion) is a female rapper/singer, songwriter and actress from Detroit, MI. Angela Davis was humming melodies before she knew how to talk. Later, being influenced by artist namely Whitney Houston, Pattie Labelle, Shirley Murdock and Mini Ripperton. She started rapping at the age of 6. Being influenced by her older brother and by artist such as Run DMC, NWA, Geto Boys, Erik B & Rakim, LL Cool J, KRS 1, Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane to name a few. As a child Angela (D'Phuzion) was a ballet dancer and a model. She has opened up for acts such as Run DMC, Scarface, Jay Z and Public Enemy. She has done theatrical work with Mekhi Phifer & Eminem (8 Mile). She also appeared in Daisy Does America on TBS in 2005 she also plays the role of an undercover cop in and upcoming independent film out of Detroit entitled Darlin Nikki. On the set of the movie 8 Mile director Curtis Hanson called D'Phuzion "The Queen of Detroit" after defeating close to 200 emcees in a rap battle. The Legendary Chuck D from Public Enemy said "D'Phuzion is the best female rapper EVER"!! D'Phuzion have performed at House of Blues (Hollywood, CA & Chicago Vancouver, Canada), Tramp (New York), Stock Exchange (Downtown Los Angeles), Belly up Tavern (Solana Beach, CA), Maritime Hall (San Francisco), San Diego, Long Beach, CA, First Ave (Minneapolis, MN), MANN Music Center for the Performing Arts (Philadelphia, PA), The Rave (Milwaukee, WS), Mansfield, Toledo & Cleveland, OH, Washington D.C, Seattle, Washington, Salem Armory, The Roseland Theater (Portland OR), Laga (Pittsburgh), (Kokamo Indiana). In MI she has performed at just about every major venue. D'Phuzion was in a group by the name of Da' Fanatic'z under Life of Death Ent. (An independent label out of Detroit), the group consisted of her and two guys. Da' Fanatic'z went on to record an album entitled "Taking No Prisoners". The first single/video was entitled "Who Got The Props". The video was added to regular rotation on underground video shows in Phoenix & Tucson, AZ, Chicago, IL, Las Angeles & West Hollywood, Ca, St. Mililani, HI, Washington D.C., Colorado, Austin, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Omaha, NE, Bergen & Newark, NJ, New York, NY, Toledo, OH, MI, North Carolina, Atlanta, New Orleans LA, Philadelphia, PA & Baltimore, MD reaching well over 42,675,000 households. In '99 D'Phuzion went on tour with Champtown CEO of Straight Jacket Records (Independent label from Detroit) to open up for Public Enemy on there (US Poison Tour). In '00 Champtown and D'Phuzion shot a video for Champtowns' first single off his album entitled "Bang Bang Boogie" that was top request on The Box video network and was in rotation on BET Rap City and Canada's video outlet, Muchmusic. The single sold close to 70,000 copies with no real distribution. Bang Bang Boogie spent months quietly hovering on Billboard's Hot R&B/Rap chart, peaking No. 21 in Spring 2000. In 2001, D'Phuzion shot her video for the first single off her never released album "Murder Death Kill" entitled "Street Lights". Street Lights was suppose to be releases on Straight Jacket Records distributed by Something Distribution a New York company headed by Chic the founder and record producer extraordinaire, Nile Rogers. The single was played on radio stations in Detroit and New York. The video was played on underground video shows in multiple cities namely New York, California, and Detroit etc. D'Phuzion is currently flooding the streets with her mix tape entitled "Ultra Violent" featuring the hottest artist out of Detroit. She is also adding the finishing touches to her debut album. HOPE THE WORLD IS READY!!!
