Welcome to our myspace. Down and Out in Vegas were created by four Kendal collage students, we recently got a set together and are looking for more gigs. We all have a very wide varied taste in music so the aim is to maybee bring something new to our area, anyway give it a go tell us what you think!

Review of our demo, we think its very fair let us know what you think!

The four songs on this demo, apart from being (as you might expect from an unsigned band) unpolished and unperfected are quite good. In fact one of the most endearing qualities is that the songs are not perfect.

The vocals have a scratchy quality which is interesting but the band seem to have a tendency for over-kill; drums, bass and guitar all fighting for attention (ironically the first song on the demo being called 'Attention Seeking Pleasures'). Second offering 'Another Theory, Another Body' is much more impressive with a discordant rhythm overlaid with a spiky riff and much more subtle vocals.

However, this band doesn't seem to know which genre it wants to fit into and, where this can be a good thing, it also means their fingers are stuck in many proverbial pies. The songs which are the best are the two where 'Down and Out in Vegas' have attempted to explore their own possible identity, such as in 'Another Theory.' and '.3'. With the other two songs though they seem to be trying to stick to the generic 'rock' genre- lots of banging of drums and distorted guitars.

3/5

'Kendal Calling Review'

"The Fugative Sounds stage featured a whole host of top acts in cluding seaside riot, The Witch and the Robot, The Wallbirds, plus hotly-tipped band The Answering Machine to name a few. But the real highlight on Saturday Afternoon was Kirkby Stephen's Down and out in Vegas. Only a small, but select, crowd witnessed this up-and-coming progressive gem. Catch them again at their home-town Nine Standards Festival on Friday, 31st August"
