DONUTS
Founder, hostess and resident DJ, PICKPOCKET, and resdent Visual Artist, AC, of DONUTS maintain the goal of creating an atmosphere in which music, art and design can be enjoyed in a fun and festive environment. AC (Alison Childs) relocated to the east coast and hast started her Galaxie parties with Lovefingers (lovefingers.org), Justin Miller (DFA), and Jacques Renault (Runaway). DONUTS is an all-inclusive space for artists/musicians/djs/designers of all kinds, to get together in one location to appreciate each other and provide dance party entertainment to the local community. Records played at DONUTS generally focus on obscure but danceable music from all over the world and from the /70s/80s to the present (sometimes unreleased) with dance-able beats and an underground dance/synth and/or punk rearing. Bands booked include up-and-coming local bands as well as internationally touring bands; all of whom share similar influences yet may execute their sound in different unique ways. DONUTS is a celebration and a statement of resurrection for the life of the party that has evaporated from American nightlife. Let's bring it back collectively!
