Dontae Winslow is a

Music Producer, Trumpeter, Rapper, Composer, and Educator



currently working on his 7th studio album entitled "The One". He was trained in music at the formidable Baltimore School for the Arts high school. In four years, he attained a Bachelors and Masters degree in Classical Music Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the John's Hopkins University.



He has toured the world with Gary Thomas Overkill, and has released 7 titles on his own independent label, Ransom Entertainment. Executive producing these albums honed his skills as a producer, songwriter, trumpeter, and rap artist.



Dontae is also a featured soloist with composer Darin Atwater's Soulful Symphony. After winning the John Lennon international songwriting competition in 2002 Dontae moved to LA. In 2003, Dontae Winslow was awarded a full-fellowship to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at USC, where he studied and performed with legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock and film composer Terence Blanchard.



Dontae has worked in the bands of Queen Latifah. Common, D’Angelo, Christina Aguilera, Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dog, and currently Raphael Saadiq.



Dontae resides in California and works closely with producers DJ Khalil, and Warryn Campbell. He has been a studio trumpeter and arranger for such varied artists as: Annointed, Beyonce, Dj Muggs & GZA, Gary Bartz, Gary Thomas, Jay Dilla, Men of Standard, Musiq Soulchild, Patti Labelle, Queen Latifah, Reuben Studdard, Snoop Dog, and Xzibit.



As a Music Producer he has 3 songs on platinum artist Avant’s upcoming Self-Titled release on Capitol records December, 9th, 2008. He also arranged strings and performed and arranged Horns on the new Mary Mary CD entitled “The Sound” 2008. He is co-writer of Kanye West’s “We Major”, Jay-Z’s “I Made it”, David Banner’s “Faith”, Chantee Moore’s “Can’t do it”, and KiKi Sheard’s “The One”, and “Love Like Crazy”.



In addition to recording Dontae is a jazz improvisation, music production and performance clinician for such esteemed institutions as The Berklee School of Music, The Baltimore School for the Arts, LAUSD and The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University. He has a beautiful wife, singer-Mashica Winslow, and an anointed son Jedidiah Divine Order Winslow. Dontae Winslow is a renaissance man and a new voice for those who seek to overcome some of life’s most challenging obstacles; his messages inspire the despondent and downtrodden.
