Don Pepaa was born and raised in Montreal Quebec , surrounded by a lot of local musical talent. At the young age of 8, he made the best decision in his whole life so far. This decision not only has proven to be in God’s will, but it also allowed him to accomplish things he never imagined. At 8 years old, Don decided to start playing the drums. From then on, he was on his way to an amazing journey full of joy and great accomplishments. Following the fast rhythm of life, Don recorded his first album in 1997. His talent and skills were recognized throughout the whole city, therefore he was asked to feature with several local artists such as: Earth to Heaven, Devine, C.C.M.M Choir by Maestro Emile St-Hilaire , Genuine faith choir featuring Jennifer mead, Umoja, One Featuring (Corneille Gardy and Gage) and Montreal's legendary R&b group, F.B.I Crew. Slowly creating a reputation for himself, all started to hear about this new “cat” in the neighbourhood. There was a new name in the street. Don was now called" Don Juan Pepaa". All this exposure allowed him to breakthrough in the local scene and open doors to performing with other main stream recording artists. Don played for several worldwide known artists such as: Marvin Sapp, Twinkie Clark, Rap Gospel Artist B.B.J, and Lisa McClendon. Due to his great talent Don traveled a lot and participated in many important events that shall always be remembered by all. In the year 2000, he was featured in the Montreal Francofolie with Nodeja. He also went to Japan for a workshop with recording artist/ producer and writer, Butch Heyward. In 2003 and 2004 Don traveled to China(Macau), Thailand and Indonesia with the group called Scarlip. Don even performed for dignitaries such as Jean Chretien and Georges W. Bush at the Summit of Americas with the R.O.C.K (Gospel choir). In 2005 he once again played at the Montreal Francofolie with the Catburglaz, at the Jazz festival with Yakenge in 2006 and played for Jodie Resther's Album release. In 2007, he played with legendary Chris Combett at the Montreal Francofolie and also played for Gage at the Bell Center . He participated at the Jazz Festival in Montreux Switzerland with IBA in 2008. He is now the drummer for Carl Henry, Line1Circus, Maytis and Slim Williams. All of this may sound like a lot for Don Pepaa, however it doesn’t stop there for him. Don is currently working on a special project with his “home town crew” composed of various local gifted band players called the SSP, which stands for : Sunday School Project. Don started his career in Church and he understands that none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the Great One guiding his footsteps. To stay true to his roots and give thanks , he gathered with several others that have been blessed with talent, and they plan on recording an album really soon. So stay tuned for more of Don Pepaa A.K.A: DonJuan Pepaa!!!
