"THE MISSISSIPPI MOVEMENT 2"

Larry “Donnell” Fairley, the sixth of eight children born to Joe and Frances-Jean Fairley of Moss Point, Mississippi, realized his dream while singing as a child in the Meridian Street Church of Christ, where all music is done accappella . From there Donnell became this passionate artist, driven with great ambition. He's not your typical aspiring artist, trying to make it in today's music industry. Donnell is motivated by a more unselfish reason. He is motivated by a dream to redefine today’s youth. Donnell is proficient in the writing and production of his music, as well as, graphic, web design, and photography.

"Art and music is my passion, so I love that I can develop my own product, because It gives those who may not know me an opportunity to learn more about what I am capable of doing other than singing.”

- Donnell

Donnell is using his music to deliver a positive message to inspire those who may have experienced everything from racism to “banging” or from teenage pregnancy to drug abuse.

“I’ve experienced racism and I’ve experienced “banging”, but being able to return to those things which I’ve been taught saved me from self-destruction. I'm fortunate that God has allowed me to see things the way they really are.”

- Donnell

Donnell is also on a mission to help change the outlook of African-American men and women. He wants them to see that there is a way out of struggle that they don’t have to be another statistic, that they have a choice. Changing the way they think of themselves and one another, he knows it's not going to be easy. The thing that drives Donnell the most is seeing his “brothers banging”, and knowing that there are kids who look up to them, just as he did. His aim is to help both, the young and the older men, but the reality of the situation is that the young men are more likely to take heed. A child in his growing stages can still be taught, but a grown man is already set in his ways; they've already accepted “the block” as life. Donnell’s conviction and consciousness are what’s lacking in most of today’s music.

"If the message in my music or on these streets changes a man's heart, thank God.” - Donnell

Keeping the focus on the young ones as he adds each positive lyric while strumming his guitar; pinpointing on his younger brothers trying to save them from the bangers and go-getters.

Donnell’s purpose isn’t to get awards or to be seen on the television set as just another artist. He’s trying to build the self-esteem of his fellow brothers and sisters. Donnell is sending a message to everyone who may think that the only way out is death, because death is the result of “hustling”, “banging”, and drugs. Although he's been through many problems of his own and has caused just as many, Donnell is truly a blessed young man. He has what they call "the best of both worlds". Judge for yourself!
