Leichtkäfer können mit ihrem Hinterleib ein kaltes grünliches Lciht erzeugen, die sogenannte Biolumineszenz. Dieses Leuchten setzen sie ein um sich für die Paarung zusammenzufinden."

Since female fireflies don't have any wings and a wormlike shape, they were also called glow worm in the colloquial language. Fireflies are able to produce a cold, greenish light, the so called bioluminescence, with their hindquarters. They deploy that luminescence to congregate for the copulation.
