Doc-Ock, America's Favorite A&R Launches "The Doc-Ock Campaign," An Online Search For The Next Musical Sensation, & Introduces "The Gameboyz," A Series of Promotional Mixtapes That Will Open The Music Industry Up For All
NEW YORK, NY.When America is in need of a new musical sensation, who do they turn to? They turn to A&R phenom Octavius Doc-Ock Crouch. Doc-Ock is now on the hunt to find the next act who will forever change the musical landscape. With "The Doc-Ock Campaign," he is looking for the new Michael Jackson. The new 2Pac. The new Madonna. The new Beatles. Doc-Ock covers it all--Hip hop, pop, rock, and R&B. To Doc-Ock, great music is great music, no matter the genre.
The various components of The Doc-Ock campaign--which will include mixtape promotions, an Internet arm, and in-person appearances--with forever change the way the music industry works. It will open the system up for various talents. Through The Doc-Ock Campaign, an aspiring artist will no longer need to send their demo to an beleaguered A&R executive at a record label and have it linger in a pile of other demos--or tossed in the trash without even a listen. Doc Ock is providing is a vehicle that will to let new acts connect directly with A&R reps, and vice versa.
In addition to this, Doc-Ock will host of a series of promotional mixtapes called "The Gameboyz" that tie-in with the Doc-Ock Campaign. Each month, a different mixtape will be promoted nationwide. Called "The Gameboyz" series, it will feature a retro theme based on video games from the late '80s and early '90s. But that's not all that makes The Gameboyz unique. Unlike most mixtapes, this series will feature current music, unsigned artists, and instrumentals from known and up-and-coming producers.
Each Gameboyz CD will be sectioned into three parts: Player A (will contain commercial music), Pause (will feature music from unsigned artists), and Player B (will showcase instrumentals). Within the "Pause" section, Doc-Ock will ask listeners to vote on the unsigned artists via telephone or email. A select number of voters who call in will be awarded prizes. If an unsigned artist gets great voter feedback, the act will get a one-on-one business meeting with Doc-Ock.
The Gameboyz mixtape will give unsigned artists and producers a chance to showcase their music to a broader audience as well as an opportunity to have a meeting with an industry A&R pro. Ultimately, The Gameboyz mixtape will become a DVD mixtape.
The "Doc-Ock Campaign" will also include a www.doc-ock.com site and a destination on MySpace.com. Unsigned artists and producers can even submit info to have their music included on The Gameboyz mixtapes. Doc-Ock.com will be the one-stop post for consumers and industry insiders.
If an A&R executive is looking of a R&B act, they just log in and search the Doc-Ock.com data base for R&B acts. There they will find new submissions--complete with music, bio, headshots, etc. Or maybe a music supervisor is looking for a someone to score a film or TV show theme, create a commercial jingle, or is in need of a producer for a soundtrack and they don't want to use the same old acts and producers. At Doc-Ock.com they will be able to find new talent to handle any musical task.
Under the "Doc-Ock Campaign," Doc-Ock will attend and participate in events and parties promoting his work and The Gameboyz series. The "Doc-Ock Campaign" will introduce the next leaders in the entertainment world and bridge the gap between unsigned artists and the music industry.
The Gameboyz is more than just a collection of mixtapes. It's a movement. A movement involving Doc-Ock, DJs, promoters, managers, publicists, artists, producers, clothing designers/companies--and music consumers and lovers. It's just what America needs.
