Dirty Little Secret is pure energy, not only penetrating space, but surpassing the cosmos and becoming an all-encompassing, pulsing, writhing organism existing by means of sexual vigor, creativity, and various chemical reactions that ultimately reaches the point of critical mass and much like a volcano erupts in an aural orgasm. Contrasts in volume, clarity, feedback, melodic structures, pop and innovation form a collage of sounds. A wide array of emotions and textures fills even the largest expanse.
The genealogy of Dirty Little Secret stretches back to high school, where Los Angeles natives Louis Castle (singer/guitarist) and James Bairian (bassist) became best friends, doing everything together from ditching school to songwriting.
Officially, Dirty Little Secret was formed in the summer of 2002, and recorded a five-song EP in 2004. Over the years, stylistic modifications and a musical maturity became apparent between Castle and Bairian, but something was missing. The puzzle pieces were found in 2005 when Castle and Bairian started playing with Brian Monte (drums).
In 2005, Dirty Little Secret entered the studio to record their first full-length album. After six weeks of tracking, engineering and self-production, the resulting album, Cabin Fever, brought that summer to an alleviating close.
Dirty Little Secret has shared the stage with Beck, The Bravery, The Walkmen, Peaches, Les Savy Fav, Maximo Park, We Are Scientists, TV on the Radio, and John Cale to name a few.
Amidst an intense schedule Castle and Bairian have found the time to record many other bands. The latest of which is the indie duo, Giant Drag. LA Weekly raves: "Bairian and Castles production of Giant Drags Hearts & Unicorns CD gave some indication of their sonic mastery".
Dirty Little Secret forms a unique voice in todays music scene. Standing out like an analog beacon in a digital sea, Dirty Little Secret blurs the lines between hi and lo-fi. The spotlight is shining on Dirty Little Secret, preparing the world for the 2006 release of Cabin Fever.
