Shahrokh Dini Teheran/ Iran born DJ & producer Shahrokh Dini got great and massive
commendation for his album "Dripping Point" in magazines like De Bug,
Groove, Raveline, XLR8R, DJ Magazine a.o.
Well, it's time to look forward, as his new EP "Tacky Dreams" is coming up
on Compost Black Label and Shahrokh is always on the run forward heading to
his events, gigs, productions, partys. Michael Reinboth and the whole
Compost famlee lovin and callin him: the real true p party animal. P stands
for persian, passionated and in a positive meaning: pain in the DJ booth.
Definitely you already have or will see him socialising at any good party,
or if you catch his DJ vibe, it’s trained, professional, gorgeous, fun, deep
and paaarty, too.
He recently changed his artist name from Shahrokh Sound Of K.
(started in 1993 as a DJ in Karlsruhe, Germany) to now simply his real
(passport approved) name: Shahrokh Dini.
Beside his album and several 12inches on Compost, Shahrokh’s release history
is spiced and bottled with lot of good house music on labels like Strictly
Rhythm, Ministry Of Sound, Caus-N-Effect and others.
Even today, Shahrokh provides the electronic music scene in Karlsruhe
with events, all manned with quality music. By now Shahrokh throws partys
several times a year, called "Electric Mood" in changing off locations with
international acts. Once a month he is organizing the show
"Electric Jazz Window" for the Berlin based Jazzradio "The White Room", he organized, runned and DJed big events with the ZKM Karlsruhe in context with exhibition / art, for example with Metro Area, Carl Craig, Peter Kruder, his homebase long term friends Amé and many many others.

On this new EP "Tacky Dreams" Shahrokh Dini teams up with a new
young bassist from Karlsruhe, Ralf Strecker, who produces electronic
music since 2003, and plays the bass in various live bands since 2005.
Shahrokh wishes you "Tacky Dreams". Believe it or not, Shahrokh can tell you
so funny stories, since he lived the life of an p party animal and addicted
DJ and producer for more than 15 years now.
Shahrokh has realized his potential and is now looking to bring his distinctive and innovative style to your Club.

SHAHROKH DINI (Compost-Black, Germany)
Nachdem der in Teheran geborene Shahrokh Dini im letzten Jahr durch die
Veröffentlichung seines Albums "Dripping Point" auf Compost sich viel Lob
in De:Bug, Cosmic Disco, Groove und Raveline einheimste, ist es Zeit zurückzuschauen
und vorwärts, da die neue EP "Tacky Dreams" in Composts Black Label Reihe ansteht.
Shahrokh begann im Jahr 1993 als Dj in Karlsruhe, 1995 beginnt er eigene Produktionen.
Mit seiner zweiten EP "Phunk Communication" auf Cause-N'-ff-ct -Strictly Rhythm landet
er 1998 seinen ersten Clubhit und gleichzeitig auf Platz 22 der Englischen Clubcharts.
Die Single findet sich im selben Jahr auch auf dem Sampler "Ministry of Sound".
Seine folgende Single "Yo Mamma" (CNF-Strictly Rhythm) 1999, erscheint auf dem
Soundtrack von Wolfgang Petersons "Stargate". Es folgen Remixe für Cause N'-ff-ct,
u.a. Donna Summers "Hot Stuf" und "Bad Girls" , sowie ein Remix des Gloria Gaynor
Track "Last Night" für das Projekt: "Dj Empire - A Tribute to Giorgio Moroder"
( Cause N'-ff-ct / BMG Ariola).
Aber mit Musik nicht genug, im verschlafenen Karlsruhe gründet er 1999 seinen ersten Club
"Terracotta". Die dortigen Veranstaltungen reichen von Housegigs mit Nakedmusic über Livejazz
hin zu "Latin Tunes" weiter über das gewohnte Programm hinaus.
Mit der Gründung der "Mood Lounge" 2002 erfüllt er sich nicht nur einen Traum,
sondern holt in den folgenden Jahren Leute nach Karlsruhe, die sowohl ihn als
auch die internationale elektronische Musikszene geprägt haben.
Carl Craig, Kings Britt, Metro Area, Charles Webster, Peter Kruder, Jazzanova…um nur ein paar Namen zu nennen,
stehen an den Wochenenden u.a. neben den Karlsruher Residents ÂME hinter den Plattentellern.
Bis heute bereichert Shahrokh, das Karlsruher Nachtleben mit seinen musikalisch stets qualitativ
besetzen Events. Momentan veranstaltet Shahrokh mehrmals im Jahr die Eventreihe
"electric mood", bei der internationale Acts auf lokale Größen treffen, sowie einmal im Monat für
das Jazzradio Berlin: "the white Room" die Eventreihe "Electric Jazz Window" in Berlin.
In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (ZKM) gab es große
Veranstaltungen im Rahmen von Ausstellungen ("LICHTKUNST"). So holte er dafür u.a. Acts wie
Metro Area aus New York in das kleine Nordbadische Städtchen.
Durch das ZKM lernt Shahrokh Andreas Köhler kennen, seines Zeichens Berufsmusiker,
zusammen entsteht 2006 die erste Single "Owlflight" als "Shahrokh.Sound of K." auf Compost Records.
Viel Lob kommt dafür von DJ's wie Rainer Trüby, Jazzanova, Atjazz oder Sasse. Und natürlich
klingt das alles nicht mehr so discoid wie zu seinen Anfängen. Minimaler, deeper und mit viel Druck kommt diese
Release daher.
Auf ihrem Album "Dripping Point" zeigen die beiden 2008 wieviele Facetten Housemusik
auch abseits der Clubs haben kann. Es ist ein Album das mit den Musikstilen nur so spielt. Jazzige Einflüsse
treffen auf übliche House bzw. Technobeats, dazu ruhige Vokals von Siri Svegler und auch Jamie Lloyd.
Hier kommt einiges zusammen was House zu bieten hat, und noch viel mehr, und verschmilzt zu einer Melange
aus Melancholie, Symphonie und Groove. Getoppt durch die Housestimme schlechthin, Robert Owens.
Für die neue EP "Tacky Dreams" findet eine Verjüngung statt. So produzierte Shahrokh die folgende
EP gemeinsam mit dem jungen Bassisten, Ralf Strecker aus Karlsruhe. Seit 2003 produziert dieser Musik
am PC, seit 2005 spielte er bis heute als Bassist in einigen Livebands. Zu erwarten sind also
frische Basslines! Wie das gemischt mit Shahrokhs Einflüssen aus Jazz, Funk, House und Disko
klingen wird, wird bald im Rahmen von Composts "Black Label" Reihe zu hören sein.
