belts of time review
Endemic Digital again and they continue to
shake things up by following on from
Moojaa's almighty 'Enchanted Frog' with a
Detroit influenced slab of house from
Retroblast, complete with live saxaphone
from Jon Hester.
Hailing from the USA, Retroblast drafts in the
likes of Jon Hester to perform live saxophone
over the top of this traditional, hypnotic deep
house monster.
Complete with two interpretations, the final
and original take, this is feel good, hypnotic
house music with a clear nod back to the roots
of the music that we all love.
ED022 Retroblast ft Jon Hester 'Belts of Time'
01 Original Version
02 Original Take

Electric Over drive
Yesssssssss. This song is made to drive with large eyes in the underground. If the sun comes up then still talking with a friend and drink beer. Large city, I hear you call. And the night calls also: "You already again?"

8 mins. of bliss
Djinahzone owns the secret of reduction. Where others claim to discover the "Minimal"-hype-process without coming to a single point of clarity, this producer from Minneapolis demonstrates it by simply going back to the very roots, means: the specific, timeless Detroit basics. Warm, deep, reduced beats, JUAN ATKINS-sound-references, smoothy atmosphere. Nothing breaks out here, everything flows, behaves to each other balanced-homogeneous and varies only in decent, controlled modulation- and filter phases and volume shifts. This is how the big ones do it!

Comment!
New York based South African, Brendon Moeller has been seriously producing since 1994. His compositions have been released on Francois K’s Deep Space Media; Third Ear Records, Echocord, Mule Musiq, Leena Music, Eskimo recordings and then some. He records as Brendon Moeller, Beat Pharmacy and Echologist. Dub, techno, jazz, afrobeat and psychedelics are inspirations that appear in most of his music. Whether it be serious dancefloor bizniz, or dubbed out bass-scapes, his music always possesses a quality and signature that make him the force he is today. He has collaborated with some of the great dub vocalists of our time, namely Mutabaruka, Spaceape, Mikey Dread and Paul St. Hilaire amongst others.
