Raggamuffin Whiteman

Raggamuffin Whiteman aka Kambo Don aka Boetje Banden is not your average DJ.



For Raggamuffin Whiteman the passion for Caribbean music started when he went on a 1-year student exchange to Jamaica in '94 when he was only 17 years old.



That's where he started mixing & where he learned about reggae, dancehall & soca and was shown the skills by his friends who ran Innocence Disco soundsystem.



Once back in Belgium he continued mixing reggae, dancehall, urban music & soca and also started writing his own lyrics and performing his own songs whenever he'd mix at parties.



In '99 he went back to Jamaica for 5 months where he mixed at some gigs, won 2 DJ-battles on Irie FM and cut his first dubplates.



Once back in Belgium he really started working hard promoting reggae music and the Jamaican culture by organising parties, hosting his own radio show on Radio URGent (2001-2006), performing live, writing lyrics, MC-ing, hosting and mixing at various gigs.



In 2002, Raggamuffin Whiteman attended the Red Bull Music Academy in São Paulo, Brazil, where he linked up with a whole lot of other DJs & vocalists to discuss music and where he also got lots of gigs mixing & performing at hiphop clubs & reggae parties, MC-ing at drum 'n' bass raves and mixing on Brazilian radio.



All this MC-ing on other people’s sets got Raggamuffin Whiteman interested in raggajungle so in 2005 he started mixing and producing newskool raggajungle with partner in crime Digital Pervert. Gorilla Sound, a 100% raggajungle soundsystem was then founded, which had them touring through most of Europe during the various Jungle Mash-Up Tour.

Gorilla Sound is no more but both Digital Pervert & Raggamuffin Whiteman remain in high demand for their exclusive raggajungle sets.



Over the years he has mixed & performed in Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Jamaica, Macedonia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, the UK and Ukraine, toured with DJ K, Capital J, Cali P & Mad Dem Sound and shared stages with people like Anthony B, Black Chiney, Buju Banton, Capleton, Cecile, Chopstick Dubplate, Cut Chemist, David Rodigan, Demarco, DJ Storm, Ky-Mani Marley, Lady Saw, Madlib, Massive B, Million Stylez, Mr Vegas, Nicky Blackmarlet, Poison Dart, Powpow Movement, Remarc, Robbo Ranx, Sean Paul, Tester, Tony Matterhorn, Ward 21 & Wayne Wonder.



After 8 years of being a full-time DJ, end of 2009 he decided it was time for a new challenge.

That’s when he left his residency at Ghent’s infamous Decadance Club where he had been a resident for 8 years on Tuesdays with TLP + various international guests and where he hosted his own DecaDanceHall parties on Fridays.



Raggamuffin Whiteman stands stronger than ever, mixing more than regular at various parties nationally and internationally, making more of his own music and co-promoting 2 new parties: Bruk Out alongside Pro-Teaz in Oudenaarde and Boom Bang Bang alongside Groove Station in the city of Ghent.



For the 2010 and the years to come you can expect even crazier sets, taking the dancing frenzy to a whole new level. Own remixes, own riddims and more and crazier dubplates will add to that as well as the co-operations with various MCs like Bredda X and Saimn-I.



Raggamuffin Whiteman stands for partyvibes that are guaranteed to get you dancing, whining and daggering.
