DJ Peter Gunz is known internationally as a crowd-pleaser with a unique ability to break new music. His sets feature the latest hip-hop, R&B, crunk and dancehall tracks while always keeping the dance floor packed with an experienced selection of favourites. He has performed and toured alongside some of the biggest names in hip-hop & R&B – Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Nelly,Sean Paul, Akon, DMX, Lil Jon, Lloyd Banks, Ice cube, Jboog, Method Man, Sean Kingston as well as music legends such as Maxi Priest, The Beastie Boys and UB40. He has also supported local acts including Savage, Scribe, Hilltop Hoods, Phrase and Jessica Mauboy. Peter was the main DJ for the recent 2009 Australian Idol Finale and After Party.



Peter was the Official DJ for The 2000 Sydney Olympic Games After Party and also has been nominated twice as Best Club DJ (Australia) at the 2006 and 2007 Australian Urban Music Awards.



After a decade of residencies in Sydney’s hottest clubs and performing at key nightspots in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Los Angeles and the South Pacific, Gunz attracted the attention of New Zealand’s premier hip-hop label, Dawn Raid Entertainment. Performing alongside Dawn Raid’s all-star roster of talent – Savage, Mareko, Deceptikonz, Adeaze, Ill Semantics, DJ CXL – Gunz rocked crowds across Australia and New Zealand with these heavyweights of New Zealand hip-hop, including performing at the 2005 Big Day Out Tour with the Deceptikonz.



In 2006, Gunz released his first official mixtape, Street Dreams Vol 1 distributed by Warner Music, which went gold (selling over 35,000 units). He toured Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific as part of an extensive Street Dreams promotional tour. His set at SPACE nightclub in Sydney alone attracted over 2,500 people in one night.



Following the success of Street Dreams, Gunz was selected to perform with Dawn Raid artist Savage at the 2006 MTV Australia Video Music Awards, entertaining an audience of over a million viewers worldwide. Gunz is also one of the few DJ’s who have been offered a coveted spot as a mix-master on The Edge 96.1FM, Australia’s first urban radio station.

In 2007 Gunz was approached by Central Station Records to release a new mixtape series.

Reprezent Vol. 1 sold more than of 21,000 units across Australia and New Zealand. This was supported by a hugely successful promotional tour, including a memorable performance with Savage on MTV’s The Lair, which was later voted one of the Top 10 MTV Performances of 2007.



2008 saw the release of Reprezent Vol. 2 which sold close to 30,000 units and was supported by another promo tour of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Gunz was also approached by Flava FM in New Zealand to host his own mix show, Gametime, which quickly became one of the most popular mix shows on air. This consisted of Gunz exhibiting his technical prowess by spinning live, on-air, real-time continuous mixes for an hour at a time.



2009 saw Gunz’s talent showcased on popular prime time TV show Australian Idol alongside singer and Top 11 finalist Scott Newnham, with footage being rushed up on YouTube almost immediately with a record number of hits within hours.



Sponsorships, branding and endorsements are a key part of Gunz’s business with DJ Peter Gunz being officially sponsored by American hip-hop clothing label LRG clothing. He is often the go-to DJ of choice for prime corporate events and industry showcases for international companies such as X-Box and High Roller energy drink. He is also proud to be associated with Australia’s premier sporting organisation, National Rugby League events.
