Another debut twelve from another freshly minted dubstep imprint - Art Recordings. The man behind the controls here is London's Orien, here operating with strange, welcome fusion of traditional bass/drop structures and plastic melodies that evoke a strange mix of Eastern, military and arcade game soundtracks that aren't half expected but which tag themselves stubbornly to your mind after a quick listen. B-side track "A Distant Place" is the stronger of the two - a quietly uplifting melodic vibe guiding the track like a thick ray of sunshine over the horizon, with another unexpected use of disjointed sounds making up the body of the track. Good stuff - check!

some beautifully mellow ambient and slightly eastern tinged dubstep sounds from this new london based producer on the art recordings label. features some trademark heavy bass and drum sounds coupled with the much more ambient eastern like vibes. the ep features mexican waves along with a distant place on the flipside. imagine a more dubstep take on the early dubby ambience of the likes of the orb. really beautiful stuff. january 2008

I started off listening to jungle when i was about 11 and then started listening to old skool garage when i was about 12.
I got my first pair of decks when i was 13, so that means i been DJ'ing for about 11 years. I started listening to grime and early dubstep when they first formed in about 2000.
I got a set on a pirate radio station called frontline fm in about 2003, and since have been on various other pirates on the fm dial.
