Miss Jarea: Scandinavia’s only Hardstyle Diva // Short Bio

Latest bio update: December 2009

Miss Jarea started her career with Drum ‘n Bass in 1997. It wasn’t until the year 2000 that she discovered the UK underground scene and got hooked to that sound in stead. Finding her true passion, she shortly after started her first performances all across Norway, building her name from the smaller local clubs to renowned events like Sundance, Milk Club, Resurrection and even Hyperstate / Biblos.

With weekly broadcastings on international web radios such as PureDJ.com and ID&T Radio, international gigs and releases, Miss Jarea is one of the very few true pioneers of the Scandinavian Dance scene.

Mastering the ability to put thoughts to recording, Jarea has been releasing music since 2001. International record labels such as Riot, Nukleuz, Passion, Scum records and Vicious Circle have shown interest in her work. In January 2005, Jarea struck a record deal with Carnal Records and released a sequence of sincere floor fillers, with the EP Move Ya Head as a highlight. Then halfway into 2006 Miss Jarea showed darker side on her own label Grimlock Recordings. The monster freak track Schizophrenia has been dominating dance floors ever since. Jarea’s official remix of RBA’s smash hit No Alternative was a highlight in 2007, while the forthcoming Hardstyle/Hardtrance hybrid Brain Damage has been prepped for release by the diva during a range of international gigs in 2008. Miss Jarea’s productions receive excellent feedback and airplay by some of the world’s most successful DJs and magazines.

Under pressure of the increasing international demand for her performance, Miss Jarea moved to Amsterdam in 2003, where she hooked up with among others the Dutch promoter Q-Dance, which resulted in a performance at QlubTempo followed by a an appearence on ID&T Radio. During that year she added a residency in Los Angeles, as well as several bookings in Scandinavia, Holland, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Luxembourg, Egypt, USA, Canada, Gran Canaria, Denmark and UK.

When demand for harder styles became eminent in home country Norway, Jarea teamed up with Norway’s leading events promoter Under the Sun and launched the concept Hardstyle DNA on a joint venture basis. Jarea as resident invites and plays together with international stars like Zany, Tatanka and Technoboy to name but a few.

A peak performance in 2008 was when Jarea headlined the annual Keep it Tidy event and closed the night right after the Tidy Boys and Lisa Pinup.

In 2009 Miss Jarea fell in love with HardStyle music and became resident for Norways leading HardDance concept: HardStyle DNA spinning alongside Showtek, Wildstylez, Zany, Dozer, Hedhunters ++

Dressed up in sexy dresses, high heels and wicked latex outfits, it's the frenzy way she moves and hypnotizes the crowd while banging out her tunes that make her move any crowd presented to her. So be on the lookout for this wicked sexy dj, as she is bound to conquer the world.

Style definition

Miss Jarea used to spinn a smooth, full on cocktail of Dutch & UK Hardstyle, HardTechno and HardTrance topped with a collection of SchranzTechno, played purely out of passion.

In 2008 Miss Jarea converrted to the more energetic style; Hardstyle & added Hardcore to her sets in 2010. She lives for the music: "no bigger thrill than adrenaline raging through my veins from making people go frenzy-mental on the dance floor and screaming for more. Music is like kaos and order, and kaos is what makes me wild".

Productions and releases<

On the production side, Magdalena has proven to be able to put her thoughts to recording. In 2001 she released the project Call Me Poison, together with DJ Eskimo, through CNR/Indisc. Also her remix of Tell Me did really well. In 2004, a co-production with RBA/Carnal producer 'Mad' Dan Brinslee resulted in the Soul Commander EP, which played on BBC Radio 1 (UK) by Judge Jules and released on UK label Shock. With an urge for solo productions and an overflow of inspiration, Jarea invested in a professional recording studio later that year. The first results are a dark Techno anthem and a wild Acid based vocal track, which are released on Carnal Records (NL) early 2005. Additionally, international labels such as Nukleuz and Tidy Trax have shown interest in her work. In 2007 Miss Jarea remixed RBA's 'No Alternative' witch beecame a massive floorfiller aswell as her last track on Grimloc Recordings
