KID KARTEL / MPS

The year was 1981, the 24th of October and the Kid aka Shearerboy was born into the sound of music. His father, an avid music lover and vinyl collector, introduced him into the world of Jazz, Soul, Funk, Rock which was essentially the foundation to his knowledge of music and its structure.

In his early years of Hip Hop-listening the Kid was heavily influenced by El Karem and DJ Ducats who had weekly Hip Hop shows that demonstrated the true essence of Hip Hop music and culture. Dabbling on and off behind the decks for over 10 years, DJ MPS really got on his grind and into the DJ-game in 2001, when his boys Drastik and T-Rex taught him the basics of spinning records.

After leaving Ottawa, Canada, towards Vienna, Kid Kartel jumped into the non-existent mixtape-game in Austria. In 2001 the Kid released his first mixtape “Back to the basics” which was followed by handful of mixtapes with the typical signature DJ MPS aka Kid Kartel sound.

DJ MPS aka Kid Kartel has regular residency on the Bounce Record Mixshow on PLAY.FM. Some clubs that the Kid has been in are Volksgarten Banane (VIE), Sliders (VIE), The Zoo (VIE), Roxy (VIE), Couch Club Innsbruck, Ballhaus Freilassing (GER)…

Kid Kartel has opened for many international acts such as Family Bizz (Austria), Boy Better Know (UK) and DMX (US).
