With Livin’ Proof becoming the premier club night of its kind, spawning an abundance of similar nights, and putting london hip hop clubbing back on the map. In the course of just under 3 years Livin’ Proof has consistently packed venues from it’s small intimate beginnings at Market Place to it’s new home of The CAMP in old st, with massively popular sets at Lovebox, Together at Coronet, Secret Garden Party, Cargo and a host of Warehouse parties in between as well as online video streaming shows on the Extended Players’ Funhouse and hugely popular The Boiler Room.
Starting life as a dj running and dj’ing at successful hip hop club night Ill Commotion in 2003. The three man promotion / dj team (Khalil, Dj Rags and CSY – before he turned to house) hosted nights for the likes of Technics, UK beatbox Championships, label showcases for Sony BMG & Sony Columbia as well as press showcases / album launches for the likes of The X-ecutioners, Sway, Killa Kela and Foreign Beggars. This lead to residencies and club sets across London, work as the tour dj (along with fellow ill commotion dj Rags) for Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow’s 2006 European tour, and Khalil’s 2008 Ill Commotion / THTC mixtape, which graced the cover of Hip hop Connection Magazine.
Although based in the Hip Hop scene Khalil is a club dj that loves to diverge into the worlds of dance music fusing genres within his sets geared towards the dancefloor, which has seen him play at many prestigious clubs including Fabric Live, The End, Shepherds Bush Empire, Scala, Ministry of Sound, KoKo, Turnmils, Bungalow 8 as well as gigs abroad in Paris, NYC, Germany, Prague, Budapest, Zurich and Slovakia.
Khalil has supported greats such as Justice, Benga, Shy FX, Stanton Warriors, J-Rocc (beat junkies), The Nextmen, Zinc, SebastiAn, MJ Cole, Herve, The X-ecutioners, Hot Chip, Scratch Perverts, Dj Yoda, The Foals, Foreign Beggars, Stones Throw, Mystery Jets, Sway, Evil Dee, Atmosphere, Scratch (the Roots), Digitalism, Norman Jay, Bugz in the Attic, Kissy Sell Out, Plump Djs, Herve, Roxy Cottontail, Duke Dumont, Breakbot (ed banger), Afu-Ra, Vadim, DJ Format, Tre Hardson (The Pharcyde), OH NO & Rocc C (stones throw), Roots Manuva, Sinden
