The West’s hottest new double act has been adding their personality and production to dancefloors at premier Perth parties all year.
Forged in early 2008 from the depths of southern Perth, TANKTOP are a meeting of musical minds. Tom Statham’s refined DJ skills complimented by Dave Castle’s zany production sampling and music manipulation were instantly recognised as a unique personality set to really excite dancefloors. Add to this their character behind the decks, loose antics, and fun tunes they are crowd pleasers in the truest sense of the word.
Smashing out a sophisticated European-influenced chunky party house sound, these two consistently manage to take their growing following on a sonic journey into complex dance without distancing their crowd. Ever with their fingers on the pulse of what is drawing masses worldwide they are Perth’s most versatile and well recognised new talent.
As well as regularly thrilling floors in premium Perth clubnights Shuggie and Frisk (voted number one weekly clubnight in WA 2008), in their short careers to date they have already played at some of Australia’s first-class dance festivals and tours. Their techy beat laden sets were a part of Ministry of Sound’s Annual Tour, the Housexy show (with Those Usual Suspects) and the We Love Ministry of Sound Winter Festival (with Popof and Laidback Luke).
By Popular demand, they have ventured over to Melbourne on a numerous occasions for capacity shows in clubs such as Baroq, Cushion and Motel.
Consistently earning the honours of playing alongside some of Australia’s finest talents like Groove Terminator, Andy Murphy, Chardy, Mobin Master and Sam La More, they also relish the opportunity to learn from their friend and mentor West Australia’s most recognised DJ/Producer Mind Electric. TankTop are renowned for keeping exhausted clubbers everywhere moving til dawn, such as at official afterparties for Good Vibrations, Summerdayze and Future Music.
With only 12 months under the belt this dynamic duo has already accomplished so much. As they continue to progress into the studio with a number of production works in the pipeline TANKTOP are well on their way to becoming Western Australia’s best new talent.
