Jason Thayil, also known as DJ Indo, was born and raised in Houston, TX. DJ Indo has been a music lover for as long as he can remember. Growing up in a South Asian-American household, he was exposed to a wide variety of musical genres. Once he entered high school, he started to pursue his interest in being a DJ.
In 2001, At the age of 15, he started getting into remixing Bollywood tracks with Hip Hop beats. By the age of 16, he acquired his first set of dj equipment and was performing at private parties, house parties, weddings, sweet sixteens, etc. By age 17, he was spinning at the hottest South Asian club events in Houston, and also joined the nationally renowned entertainment group, Dhol Beat International (DBI). By the age of 18, DJ Indo had now deejayed parties in every major city in Texas.
In 2005, DJ Indo, along with his good friend DJ Ali Blaze, founded
the turntablist dj crew, The ColdCutta DJs.
DJ Indo is one of the hardest working South Asian DJs in the U.S. He takes pride in putting out quality work, whether it be in his mixtapes and remixes, or spinning his live sets.
During his free time, Indo spends hours practicing and honing his skills on the turntables. This is because he beleives a DJ's skill, is what sets him or her apart from other DJs. Indo keeps crowds on their feet with his unique mixing
and scratching ability, as well as his song selection. He specializes in Hip Hop, but is also able to rock crowds in many other genres.
