Excalibah

Matthew Xia is a freelance director, composer, journalist (HHC, IDJ, Big Smoke, Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian), broadcaster (Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, Radio 4, Galaxy FM), and DJ (Ministry of Sound, Fabric and clubs across Europe and the UK). Known for promoting new UK talent under the pseudonym Excalibah he won Best Radio Show and Best Radio Presenter in the hip-hop press for his 1Xtra show Tales From The Legend in 2003, 2004 and 2005 giving airplay to artists such as Estelle, Pro Green, Example, Wretch and Plan B. He also filled in for the legendary John Peel on BBC Radio 1.
Matthew is a trustee on the Board of Directors at Rich Mix (a multidisciplinary arts venue in East London). He also sat a ten-year tenure on the Board at the Theatre Royal Stratford East where he has also held Associate Artist and Associate Director positions.
