Inspired by his cousin/producer Eric "Mo" in 1991, Stephen Saccente sought out to learn the art of Djing. Growing up in Brentwood, NY, home of many influential hip-hop artists, music was an important part of his life and his turntables seemed to be the best way to express his new interest.
DJ Degree began his career in 1999 as a tour DJ for gold rap/dance recording artist K7. While performing shows across the U.S. in various night clubs and arenas with K7 and other artists and djs, Degree created a "buzz" within the club scene and was eventually added to the roster of popular NYC based booking agent Track Central Booking. With this, his career took off, and opportunities were endless. Because of his versatility, superb mixing skills, and ability to read a crowd and control a party, and with an eclectic, open format mix of hip-hop, top 40, dance, mash ups, and rock, DJ Degree became increasingly popular in the club scene.
DJ Degree is a current member of the TasteMakers, an elite group of international DJs, with this, he travels often to the Hamptons, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Puerto Rico, and other countries including Mexico, Panama and St. Maarten. Back home in New York, he djs in a weekly rotation of New York City's most exclusive night clubs and has landed past resident spots such as China Club, Crobar, Deep, Spirit, T-NY, Taj, Lot 61, Gypsy Tea, One, Providence, Oragin, Mirage and Tavern. DJ Degree has also made some television appearances such as the Metro Channel's "Studio Y" and produced the music for professional boxing Willy Wise vs. Sugar Shane Mosley on HBO. Degree has also made some FM radio (WQHT HOT 97, WBLI 106.1 & WNYZ Party FM), and web radio appearances (DTFRadio.com) which eventually led him to his own weekly radio show on a popular Long Island radio station, Party 105.3 FM.
With this, Degree has become a popular and well respected and influential DJ, and continues to work hard and stay motivated in the industry. "I set my goals high, sometimes unrealistic, this way I force myself to be the best I can and continue to do this." All in all, his hard work, talent and dedication will lead to a successful career in this business called music.
