Dizraeli - a rapper, writer and multi-instrumentalist surfing his very own wave.

Directing his stream of stories into the murkiest corners of British culture, Dizraeli takes in politics, love, rain, supermarkets, grief, drug culture and the nasty bits of Engurland with a sidelong smile and a twist of phrase.

Planted originally in Bristol, Diz was nourished by the music and culture that flooded through that city in the 80s and 90s. He grew into a man and moved East to Brighton in 2001. There, he performed all over the shop, welcomed by the fertile hiphop scene on the south coast, and also by the spoken word circuit, where his lyrics were heard as poems.

It was at one of these events that he met up with the Canadian rhymesmith Baba Brinkman, and through the meeting of fired up opinions (stubborn bastards) and passionate viewpoints came the birth of Mud Sun, their collaboration group which has produced the slightly mental "Mine the Gap" ep and the definitely excellent The Rebel CellLP, in collaboration with dope producers, the latter a full length hiphop play, a twenty track album where every song is a scene from the show.

(They took the stage version of the Rebel Cell up to the Edinburgh Festival and were greeted with awards and star-eyed reviews. Click here to read more.)

Now Dizraeli's done a full length solo album and has pulled together a supernaturally talented band, The Small Gods, to play with. The Small Gods features Bellatrix -the world female beatbox champion- on beatbox and double bass, and all his favourite other people on strings, flute, drums, decks, keys. He gets very excited when they all play together. Dizraeli and the Small Gods invaded the Jazz World Stage (West Holts) at Glastonbury this year, and will be attacking many other venues and festivals around the country.
