Salvaging the uncategorizable music that slips through the cracks of techno, hiphop, and jazz , Tokyo based soup-disk began as an independent label in the mid 90's. For the past ten years, soup-disk has released records by artists at the forefront of Japan's leftfield scene, such as Riow Arai, Suzukiski, Cappablack, Computer Soup, Montage, Taichi, Ill Suono, Inner Science, and Conflict. Their albums have gained acclaim overseas, and have been pivotal in the advancement of the Japanese breakbeat and electronic music scenes.

To commemorate their tenth year, soup-disk started up a new label called disques corde and released the likes of RATN(Riow Arai + Tujiko Noriko), Karafuto (aka Fumiya Tanaka),

Cappablack, Takayuki Shiraishi, Gramm(aka Jan Jelinek), Reflection, and Opiate. Following in the footsteps of soup-disk, but taking a global and wider approach to sound, disques corde focuses on creating projects that bring out the other of facets of artists, and releasing undiscovered nuggets from the past.

In conjuntion with the record shop Onsa Records, situated in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, soup-disk/disques corde host the freeform club night "moxa" and have brought over acts such as Opiate, Pole, Jan Jelinek, The Weather(Busdriver, Radioinactive, Daedelus), Lusine, David Last, Nobody, Triosk and Low End Theory crew to Japan.
