Dirty Mother Nation.



Immediately the name conjures up images in your mind. Is it a social commentary on the culture of America? Is it a politically charged message? Is it a place?



Whatever you take the name to mean, there is one thing that is undeniable about this band. And that is the music. Dirty Mother Nation produces a sound unlike any other band on the scene now. The band's music is culled from the disparate influences of its talented members. Many have called their sound the "return of true alternative music", but their freshness and ingenuity allow them to transcend such labels.



Dirty Mother Nation's groundwork was first laid down in a garage in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn. It was here that the fraternal rhythm section of Matt and Daniel Douglas first mixed their hard-driving brand of rock with the intense riffing of guitarist Paul Lucenti and the powerful vocals of Lonny Friedland. Most people can't place their unique blend of past and present. That is because they are a mixture of the cream of the rock crop combined into something never before heard. Their music combines the quality songwriting and raw-talent of bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath with the visceral intensity of grunge-era bands such as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and and the Foo Fighters. Add into that mixture a healthy smattering of metal courtesy of bands such as Tool and Pantera, and top it off with a cherry of pop-music, and you get Dirty Mother Nation. It is this mixture that makes their sound so fresh, and yet so catchy.



The band released their first single "Everything You Are" in August 2006. Already, it has reached thousands of people across the world who have been waiting for the return of real rock music. The song is an excellent example of the DMN sound - Paul's fleet-fingered hypnotic riffing, complemented by Danny's funk-pop bass line, being held down by the earth-shaking drumming of Matt and tied up nicely by the romance-gone-wrong poetry of Lonny's lyrics. The song is equal parts heaviness, emotion, and energy.



Regardless of where you see them on the map, Dirty Mother Nation attacks the stage with pounding rhythms, high-end guitar work, and infectious melody - as well as a live show that is raw, unashamed, and contagious in its energy.



This is music for the fans of great music, by the fans of great music. So, the next time someone asks "What does the name Dirty Mother Nation mean?" - you answer them with the only question that matters.
