BIOGRAPHY
Born in Paris France i-mitri moved to Greece as a child, where time was spent between the big city of Athens for school and city "education" and a quiet very basic natural life of fishing and part-time goat herding at an almost uninhabited small island in central Cyclades.
While still a teenager he eventually settled as drummer and lead singer in the band Atiko Minus Project (now also known as AMP). After years of gigging in Greece (many of those times in hard to reach places around the countryside) and a CD release in 1999, the focus shifted towards the mastering of studio production processes and inspired initially by the Jamaican tradition of the mobile discothèque (sound system) a fascination with live electronics begun. AMP are still going strong and these days perform using Greece's first heavyweight dub sound system Dubwise HiFi and release music on the band's vinyl imprint AMP Outernational.
A keen interest in spiritual practices led I-mitri to India where he lived for half a year, studying meditation and Indian classical singing before coming back to travel around Europe and Africa eventually arriving in the UK in 2001 to study Music, Technology and Innovation (BA Hons) and Electroacoustic Composition (MA) in Leicester' s De Montfort University where he also taught part-time between 2004 and late 2007.
Now still based in Leicester he has linked with dub legends Vibronics (Scoops Records) with whom he often gigs and records. He also fronts the CounterAction live band. He sings, mixes, produces and records percussion and drums for independents including CounterAction Soundz, London based Dub Providers (Nuff Powa), Greek label THC Records as well as Bristol based Electronic/Dubstep label Urban Scrumping and has an ongoing collaboration with Manchester based Single Cell Collective.
As a DJ/Selector he often gets the opportunity to share his love for dub music playing locally and internationally, representing the UK Dub sound system tradition. While back in Leicester he also produces and hosts the weekly radio show and occasional club-night United Nations Of Dub.
